Single-Channel Video; Documentary
Based on the closure of the Art Video program in Syracuse University and research around it, I asked the dean of VPA (school of Visual and Performing Arts) Michael S. Tick to set a DV camcorder on fire in front of Shaffer Art Building while the camera is on and rolling, by the end of my graduate years. I present the video filmed on tape along with other video documentation, recorded or transcript conversation, printed texts, images, etc, as the final work.
Dean Tick is the one who announced the closure of the program and “sunset” comes from the language he was using when trying to dance around questions that students and faculties asked him.
